“Mama Knows” Becca Tracey Original Song

When I lost my mom I was a child. I wrote this song thinking about what it might be like if instead I was the mother who was losing her daughter. This song is about the difficulty of letting go of someone when they are dying. Letting go of my mom was very hard even though I knew she was in a lot of pain. I imagine that letting go of a suffering child would also be extremely difficult. The stained glass dove in the end of this video represents flying to heaven and that picture was shot at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville. This was recorded at TGI Fridays in Nashville, Tennessee. "Mama Knows" is registered with BMI under County of Rock Music, Becca Tracey.

“It Might Be Me” “Your Drama Queen” Becca Tracey Original Song

For any others that are at times pretty easy going and then at other times sort of a drama queen, this song is for you. I began this song writing about how I wanted to see myself. Yet, it ends up taking a turn when I get honest about how I sometimes am "a little" difficult. This was recorded at TGI Fridays in Nashville, Tennessee. This song is registered with BMI under County of Rock Music, Becca Tracey.

“Yesterday” Covered by Becca Tracey

Here is a favorite tune "Yesterday." One of my first sheet music books had this song in it. The title of that book is "The Best Songs Ever" and although it is now very wore out I still refer to it sometimes. This was recorded at Tootsies in Nashville, Tennessee.

“Danny Boy” Covered by Becca Tracey

Since my family is part Irish on both sides this song has been a family favorite for many years. The photos are of Roses in Nashville and the other photos are of me at a shop on Broadway finding another cowboy hat. This was recorded at Tootsies in Nashville, Tennessee.

“Serenity” Becca Tracey Original Song

When I wrote this song I saw it as a prayer for serenity. That is why I wanted to make a video with just spiritual or peaceful images to look at while it plays. It was written years ago as a prayer for peace after making a decision not to be in a relationship just to be in one. So this song is various thoughts relating to that idea & decision. Some of the photos were shot at St. Henry's in the entryway, church & in the chapel & also at the church of the Cathedral of the Incarnation. The recording was a live performance to a pre-recorded track. The track was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee at Simons Studios with Jackie Simons on instruments. The vocal was recorded in Janesville, Wisconsin at Mocha Moments. "Serenity" is registered with BMI under County of Rock Music, Becca Tracey.

“Walking After Midnight” Covered by Becca Tracey

Patsy is a singer that has influenced me. My mom used to have Patsy records. Mom also had a record of Loretta's that was a Patsy tribute that is also an influencing record. This is a favorite song "Walking After Midnight." Ha, ha I'm always walking my dogs, usually not after midnight though:) This was recorded at Tootsies in Nashville, Tennessee.

“Angels Watch Over the Children” Becca Tracey Original Song

This song is the love story of my great grandparents. They had a considerable age difference, yet, their similar childhood feelings drew them together after they began talking. Losing my mother at eight I related to their love story and I imagined that God had somehow brought them together. That is why the chorus is about angels, angels helped them through the sadness of their losses and then later brought them together. This was recorded at TGI Fridays in Nashville, Tennessee. "Angels Watch Over the Children" is registered with BMI under County of Rock Music, Becca Tracey.

“My Old Man” Becca Tracey Original Song

While writing this song I was thinking of older couples and the idea of growing old with someone if you both live to be old. In this song there are some family photos of my mom's parents, my grandma's parents, the farm mom grew up on, mom & her twelve brothers & sisters, and my dad & mom too. My brother & I are in one picture & I'm the baby in the photos with great grandma. The live part of this recording was done at TGI Fridays in Nashville, Tennessee. The studio part of this recording was done in Nashville, Tennessee. My Old Man" is registered with BMI under County of Rock Music, Becca Tracey.

“Pretty Boys” Becca Tracey Original Song

Here is a blues song that I wrote many years ago called "Pretty Boys." I'm not saying that I don't find men attractive I'm just saying that if they act like a jerk then I don't find them attractive. Every person is most attractive when they are being respectful. Here is take two of "Pretty Boys." It was recorded at Picks in Nashville, Tennessee with Scott Allen Nost on the guitar. “Pretty Boys" is registered with BMI under County of Rock Music, Becca Tracey.

“Something About You Scares Me” Becca Tracey Original Song

Years ago I wrote a song called "Something About You Scares Me." It is about the fear of falling in love. This was recorded at TGI Fridays and Scott Allen Nost is playing the guitar. “Something About You Scares Me" is registered with BMI under County of Rock Music, Becca Tracey.

“Somebody Else’s Dream” Becca Tracey Original Song

This is a song about a kiss, the kind where it doesn't go too right at all. If that ever happens when you kiss someone just know that you are both "Somebody Else's Dream." This song was recorded at TGI Fridays in Nashville, Tennessee. “Somebody Else’s Dream" is registered with BMI under County of Rock Music, Becca Tracey.

“Coal Mine” Becca Tracey Original Song

This is a song I wrote imagining two love stories. One is someone still in love with their dead spouse. The other is a young woman who has recently married and is feeling newly in love. She is relating to the old man's story throughout the song. This song was recorded at TGI Fridays in Nashville, Tennessee. “Coal Mine" is registered with BMI under County of Rock Music, Becca Tracey.

“Cherokee Man” Becca Tracey Original Song

Nonfiction books have always been my favorite genre. Reading about the American Indians has interested me since I was a child. I disliked the way that the American government treated the American Indians. Reading about their history with the U.S. government was at times very sad. I find their folklore fascinating and think there are many lessons that people can think about by reading their cultural stories. The Cherokee story of the Two Wolves inspired this song. I was imagining that I was the old man and also that I was one of the grandchildren while writing this song. This was recorded at TGI Fridays in Nashville, Tennessee. "Cherokee Man" is registered with BMI under County of Rock Music, Becca Tracey.

“Mr. Yesterday” Becca Tracey Original Song

Years ago as I watched a couple from a distance and I wrote this song. The two were dating and they fought in public so I knew that really they didn't get along that well. I imagined that I was a friend of the woman.  The things I imagined she would find if she would let him go were a relationship that would be a better fit for her and also some time to herself so that she can grow and enjoy life without someone who is not right for her. If both people don't bring out the best in each other then what is the point? This was recorded at TGI Fridays on West End Ave. in Nashville, Tennessee. "Mr. Yesterday" is registered with BMI under County of Rock Music, Becca Tracey.
